Cape Town
Cape Town is one of those places that gets under your skin through texture. Sharp color, layered histories, the feeling of contradiction everywhere — township life and tourism, protest and craft, all pressing against one another. I didn't expect to be as moved by it as I was.
What drew me to these artists is that they don't flatten any of that. They translate the complexity into something you can feel — rhythm, weight, a surface that holds something real. That's the kind of work I find myself coming back to when I want to understand a place.
Where you're from shapes what you notice. These artists remind me of that — and they make Cape Town impossible to reduce to a postcard.
